Jashim
At the intersection of house and trap, reggaeton and deconstructed pop, Jashim has carved out their own niche in the world of contemporary music. Rooted in the Latin underground of Montreal’s vibrant club scene, the up-and-coming artist explores crossovers between various genres with tracks such as “Summer 19” (2020) and “Alterboy” (2024), venturing into realms that hardly anyone has explored before them. Thematically, they address identity and overwhelming technologies, collective memories and the power of community – themes that are consistently and precisely reflected in their soundscape. Jashim proved four years ago – with their debut, “RW” (2022) – that they are right on trend and are helping to shape the sound of the new 2020s. Over the years, they have continually expanded their monstrous beats with new facets, new timbres, and experimental twists. Last year saw the release of their EP “777” (2025) – a viscous trap cocktail that defies conventional categorisation, which in hindsight feels like a prelude to this year’s follow-up, “R3” (2026). Having recently been released, the album marks the next stage in the evolution of an artist whose creative inspiration continues to know no boundaries, only intersections.
