At the juncture between past and present, memory and vision, Anna von Hausswolff occupies a unique position as a pioneer of contemporary sounds. Over the past 15 years, the Swedish singer and composer has grown into an icon of neoclassical music through her deeply personal and metaphysical artistic concepts, never shying away from seemingly impossible stylistic fusions. Whether amidst the swirl of sacred organs on “Ceremony” (2012) or between experimental walls of riffs on “The Miraculous” (2015): Since the very beginning of this extraordinary career, hardly anyone who has opened their ears and mind for even five minutes has been able to escape the postmodern liturgies of her albums. The fact that she released her widely acclaimed magnum opus, “Dead Magic”, in 2018 and then set out on an entirely different path with “All Thoughts Fly” (2020) testifies to an artist free from all expectations, removed from trends, for whom every new musical expression is a skin to be shed. Visionary and fearless, she stands alone in the vast expanse, singing of heaven and hell – but also, time and again, of the life in between. With the ethereal art-rock epic “Iconoclasts” (2025), Anna von Hausswolff has opened the next chapter of an unprecedented artistic evolution and – just like us – has once again opened up a world beyond all listening habits. Cosmic, eclectic, triumphant. An unparalleled feast for the senses, now making its debut here at the Elbphilharmonie.
