Augusta
Striking a balance between restraint and powerful emotional peaks, Augusta creates space in her music for reflection and sophisticated acoustic storytelling. The singer–songwriter with Anglo-French roots blends folk sophistication and indie charm into a signature sound that pays homage to leading figures from both genres yet that remains unmistakably her own. Even with her first two EPs, “The Beetles And The Bugs” (2022) and “I Don’t Think So” (2023), she demonstrated her rare gift for striking just the right balance and depth between rich textures and subtle guitar playing. No wonder, then, that she evokes echoes of Alice Phoebe Lou and Laura Marling, Adrianne Lenker and Joni Mitchell, even if she approaches her craft with a more measured and minimalist touch. In this case, less is far more – a point that Augusta has understood from the very start. She takes an unusual approach both musically and in her lyrics, which stand out refreshingly from the typical diary-style poetry. She is also an artist who is truly unique on stage – and you can see for yourself when she performs here in September.
