The sound waves of Dolphin Love wash over your ears, expansive and, in the friendliest sense, overwhelming. Echoing falsetto choruses resonate here over carefully crafted melodies brimming with longing and a spirit of new beginnings. With them, Constantin Kopp paints on canvases as vast as the Alps, bringing forward-thinking pop and atmospheric indie rock into a dialogue about yesterday, tomorrow and how we can all live better in the here and now. Easier said than done, of course. Yet singles like “areyougoingtobehere” (2021) and the newly enamoured “Sun” (2023), or the nostalgia-drenched “222” adorned with funk grooves and synth pads from the eighties, radiate the necessary pure joie de vivre, whilst simultaneously revealing a rare flair for cinematic goosebump moments. And so Dolphin Love’s music stays in your head for hours, days, weeks, becoming the euphoric soundtrack to your own life. It then becomes clear: the good old days are now – and they’ll never come again. Let’s make the most of them.
