Unfazed by the industry hype that’s been sweeping through the mainstream far and wide, Luc Julian Peyer, aka Jule X, has struck fear into the Swiss rap scene over the last few years. While others pander, he instead focuses on maximum deterrence against bourgeois stuffiness. With his newsagent’s jacket and quiff, the Bernese lad has been chopping down one plank after another – and has been doing so since the start of the decade with remarkably consistent quality. Without a manual, without a master, but with a distinct ‘antistyle’ (2025). Such is also the name of his third EP, released last year, which, with tracks like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover “Julä Bitte”, joins a long line of muscular Swiss-style club bangers. Fame and hate were and are guaranteed for him – but the rapper, previously known by the pseudonym Prada, takes both in his stride with a smug smile. And why not? Together with his mates Astro Burger and ANRU, he continues to craft wild tracks that blend Atzenpop, Bernese dialect rap and grungy-sounding beer-bong anthems like “Zistig” (2023) or “Pakistan” (2024). The new EP “DiscoTrapper” (2026) demonstrates with gusto that, despite all the success he’s already achieved, he’s far from done. Anyone who wants a bite of the action should head to the buffet in St. Pauli this September.
