Kazdoura
With the serenity of a balmy summer’s day, Leen Hamo and Johnny Abou Chacra glide over mellow pop arrangements that are as enchanting as they are surprising. Even on their first releases, the EPs “Wain” (2022) and “Khayal” (2024), the Canadian duo crafted and presented this style with professional finesse. Soul and funk meet Arabic scales, sophisti-pop meets the sensual tension of trip-hop, the electronic meets the traditional – and everything blurs into an amalgam straight out of One Thousand and One Nights. Like two desert foxes, the pair have since roamed musical landscapes between East and West, exploring instruments and genres, appearing open yet incredibly focused. The project name Kazdoura translates roughly as “going for a walk” – a musical stroll in which transcultural influences are brought into harmony. With their debut album, “Ghoyoum” (2025), the pair have established themselves as one of the most interesting duos on the contemporary Canadian music scene. So, it’s high time for their debut with us.
