Kubla

Growing up next to the seemingly endless ocean, surrounded by towering forests on Canada’s west coast, Kubla has remarkably succeeded in using these expansive backdrops as inspiration for his dreamy soul sound. With a velvety voice, his charming stage presence, and the skills of an accomplished jazz musician, Kubla not only wrote and produced his first album, ‘Close To The Sun’ (2023), but also selected the arrangements and guest artists. His music is characterised by intuitive songwriting, smooth textures, and some of the warmest chords currently to be found in soul and jazz. His second album, ‘Sounds From Deep Down’ (2024), was released last year and also shows the up-and-coming jack-of-all-trades at his best, emphatically proving that he has already established himself as one of Canada’s most interesting artists. And he’s coming to Hamburg this year with fresh material, such as the single ‘Late To The Party’ (2025).
