Lauren Auder
Aged just 24, Lauren Auder can already fill entire albums with stories from her own life – and is doing just that. In the 2010s, the London-based singer-songwriter proved her outstanding sense for dramatic composition and ability to hit the right tone at the right moment with EPs such as “Who Carries You” and “Two Caves In”. Combining introspective art pop with chamber orchestral influences, melancholic ambient layers and baroque instrumentation, this open-hearted multi-talent has developed a signature sound that is cinematic while also as intimate as a love letter. Expectations were consequently high for her debut album “The Infinite Spine” (2023). And its uncompromising enthusiasm for experimentation and its thematic depth drew unanimous praise from the music press in the UK, from Pitchfork and Clash to NME. Rarely have British music critics seen eye to eye like this over an album. But resting on her laurels and taking it easy isn’t Lauren’s style. After three years of intense songwriting and socio-political upheaval over in little Britain, the poet has emerged through “Whole World As Vigil” (2026) as more adventurous and self-assured than ever, bringing new dissonances, eclectic twists and turns, and of course her wonderfully sonorous voice back to the fore. It’s the next triumph for an exceptional talent who is finally making her way to us here in Hamburg.
