lùisa
A leading figure in Hamburg's artful new wave pop scene with folk sensibilities for many years now, Lùisa is a musician who takes her time. Time for her own creative process, but also time for its stylistic diversification. This is one of the reasons why albums such as her debut ‘One Youth Ago’ (2012) or the poetic coming to terms with the past on ‘New Woman’ (2021) are eclectic statements far removed from any short-lived hype. The singer-songwriter is as inspired by the aesthetic of Alanis Morrissette as she is by the synthesizer pop designs of the 80s or contemporary indie rock à la HAIM. It's the mix that makes it work, and Lùisa understood this early on, which is why she always stays close to the zeitgeist, not only musically but also lyrically. Themes such as empowerment, feminist criticism of the status quo and the search for one's own identity are at the centre of her work, which nevertheless is not limited to any one aspect of 21st-century existence. With her unmistakable, sonorous voice, she speaks from the heart of a generation that is preparing to change course towards the future.
