Marlena Käthe
In the best sense of the word, Marlena Käthe is out of step with her time and yet ahead of it, tonally idiosyncratic and lyrically accomplished. She burst onto the German music scene a few years ago with her EP ‘AGED’ (2021). With visceral songs ranging from art pop to dark folk, a voice as fragile as it is versatile, and unconventional electroacoustic arrangements, the young artist has been captivating an ever-growing audience ever since. At the crossroads of ethereal folklore, intimate contemporary poetry and modern production methods, her songs are like poems for a time that threatens to shatter under its contradictions. It’s music that offers refuge from all the trials and tribulations we face every day. Influences range from Emiliana Torrini to Hope Sandoval to the eclectic dream diaries of Björk – this is undoubtedly evident in her work. But just as certain is Marlena Käthe's unique musical language, which she has already mastered and which she consistently develops on her new EP ‘A<R>MOR’ (2025). Anyone who wants to see how she expresses this on stage will soon have a date in Hamburg.
