Maryna Krut
Maryna Krut was still a kid when she first discovered the bandura, an instrument that looks like a cross between a lute and a harp – with the sounds to match. Traditional to Ukraine, the bandura gives Krut’s music an enchanting atmosphere, which she combines with jazz and modern electronic elements in tracks such as ‘Колискова’ (2022) and ‘Квітну з тобою’ (2024). In her home country, she’s enjoyed great success with it for years and features regularly on the country’s most important playlists. She also plays for front-line troops in the east and performs charity concerts in other parts of Europe to raise money to support her country – making her not just one of the most important contemporary Ukrainian singer-songwriters, but also a national heroine. Her debut album ‘Літепло’ (2022) already proved the young musician’s virtuoso talent on her instrument, and also showed how she effortlessly weaves together indie pop and chamber orchestral arrangements, neo-soul and folk in ways that nobody. New singles such as ‘Веснянка’ and ‘Поясни’ (2026) again expand her repertoire further and instill a sense of hope through art that we all so desperately need.
