Pushing cultural boundaries, experimenting around with styles, delighting in ruffling feathers and taking a versatile look to the future: Money Badoo isn’t your average rap newcomer. On her debut album “PORN$TAR” (2022), the Johannesburg-born all-rounder blended classic trap beats with alternative R&B vibes, autotune with unconventional samples, hyperpop with soul - and created a signature sound of rare confidence. Celebrated for some time now in South Africa as a truly multi-faceted artist, in Europe she remains more of an insider tip on the trap scene. Money Badoo has enjoyed career success as a stylist and photographer and has worked for international brands like H&M and Puma. This is another reason why her albums become multimedia works of art where the visual and the auditory go hand in hand to create new spaces of experience. With this year’s second album, “MSRYLUV$CMPNY” (2025), she not only carries on this unconventional artistic impetus and incorporates new influences in the studio: her personal emotional alchemy, which she uses to transform pain into self-empowerment, is also explored and moulded into sound.
