A voice like a warm matcha latte, full of soul and self-assurance, accompanied by delicate electric bass lines and romantic R&B arrangements: With this formula, Nectar Woode has won over countless fans in the UK over the past few years. Alongside millions of streams on major platforms, she has also caught the attention of none other than Elton John, who raved about the young singer–songwriter’s signature sound on his Apple Music show. Her EPs “Nothing To Lose” (2024) and “It’s Like I Never Left” (2025) accordingly established her as one of the outstanding British singers of the present day, who does not pander to trends and consciously does her own thing. Given her sublime songwriting, instrumental versatility, and wonderful soul choruses, it’s no wonder her music draws favourable comparisons with Erykah Badu and D’Angelo. But Nectar Woode doesn’t just celebrate this musical language; indeed, she translates the genre’s longing and sensuality into a delicate, modern production style that is equally happy to draw on West African influences. With the mixtape “Naturally” (2026), she has released a debut album this year whose impact will soon also be felt in Germany. And soon, you will be able to say you saw her here first.
