Night Tapes
Like ideas from a fever dream between streetlights and strobes, the works of the Night Tapes are the perfect soundtrack for creatures of the night. Over the past few years, the trio from London have released a series of EPs that live up to their name and enchant connoisseurs of contemporary electronic music from Barcelona to Berlin. A sweet haze of neo-psychedelia hovers over this sensual and certainly yearning dream pop, which knows how to integrate chillwave and shoegaze in equal measure. And yet there is no trace of stylistic fragmentation. Instead, releases such as ‘Dream Forever In Glorious Stereo’ (2019) and last year’s ‘Assisted Memories’ EP consolidate a musical signature that is recognisable among thousands thanks to its almost enchanting qualities. With the current singles ‘television’ and ‘babygirl (like n01 else)’ (2025), the trio from London demonstrate the gracefulness of delicately produced pop appeal on the one hand and the desire to keep trying out new ideas in songwriting on the other. Live on stage, they never fail to bring tears to their audience’s eyes.
