Picking at the tooth of time and then pulling it out with relish: for PATINA RECORDS, hip-hop culture has not only become what it stands for today by flexing its beats and bars. A certain sense of community also belongs to it, of course. Which is why the Dortmund collective is committed to closer collaboration among the rap community in the Pott region, but also to more openness in dealing with fresh tonal influences. As a result, Patina tracks combine infectious OG hooks with pumping techno, synth splashes from the 80s with hedonistic electroclash from Deichkind and the musical visions of all those involved to create an intoxicating blend for the here and now. The “Altbau” EP released this year, as well as new singles such as “Bundesgesetz” (2025), show the collective in top form, impressing above all with their production skills and strength of content as opposed to superficiality and PR frills. They’ll also pull out all the stops for you - by this September at the latest.
