Much has already been written about the musical predictability of London bands. But at least as much has also been written about their adventurousness. The duo RIP Magic belong to the second category with their style mix of experimental electronica from the 90s, European cold wave, and the force of Nine Inch Nails. And they have recently been causing a stir in the British underground scene. Consisting of DJ and sound designer Marco Pini and visual artist Felix Bayley-Higgins, RIP Magic could prove to be the next hot thing in London, with their idiosyncratic sound with snotty vocals and raw textures impressing giants such as Tyler, the Creator as well as the British music press. The recipe is as simple as it is powerful: ‘The whole thing should be fun. We don’t want to overthink anything and just churn out a few bangers instead,’ said Bayley-Higgins in a recent interview. The concerts thus far have proved RIP Magic completely right and revealed one thing above all: Magic is created instead rather than being buried. And you can see them here before the hype-train departs.
