This date is in the past.

As children of the 21st century, they had to learn from an early age to come to terms with the contradictions of their time, to integrate them, and to navigate them. Black and white, society and the individual, hope and despair: Sperling reflect these contrasts – which are, after all, interdependent – and use them to create songs that offer a counterpoint to the spirit of the times. From winning the Planet Rock contest in 2015 to their first festival appearances and the release of their debut album, “Zweifel” (2021), it has been a long journey on which they have continually expanded and reimagined their sound, blending elements of emo, metalcore, and post-hardcore. The use of Luca Gilles’s cello, the intense vocals of Johannes Gauch – who has mastered both rapping and shouting to perfection – and the enormously versatile songwriting approaches also make their second album, “Menschen wie mir verzeiht man die Welt oder hasst sie” (2024), a post-hardcore milestone for the German-speaking scene. Sperling additionally enjoy cult status because their gigs unleash a rather special, cathartic energy that can only be felt, not explained. Come and see for yourselves.

Admission to this event is included with a Reeperbahn Festival Conference ticket, Reeperbahn Festival Ticket or a Spotlight On: Heavy Reeperbahn ticket.
