Sun Eater

No sooner were the line-up changes and the development of their sound finalised than Sun Eater headed into the studio, only to emerge a few months later with this absolute beast of an album: Whilst “Death Crown” (2026) is the Frankfurt quartet’s debut, it’s already completely wiping the competition from this year off the map. Insane tremolo picking soars over inhumanly fast blast beats, whilst the vocals oscillate between demonic screeches and guttural shouts right in your face. It brings to mind the Gothenburg sound of melodic death metal, reminiscent of Soilwork and At the Gates. However, alongside their Lovecraftian cover art, Sun Eater pursue their own unique blend of styles, drawing influences from both deathcore and symphonic metal. Within the scene, the album is already being hailed for its sheer compositional power and energy. It’s therefore high time that Sun Eater came our way, too.
