WAIT//LESS

Raw, rugged and wonderfully messed-up, WAIT//LESS tear through songs like “Hot Girl” (2024) and “Crawl” (2025), sending a clear message of their aversion to anything that aspires to be musically clean-cut. Sweet, sentimental songwriting exploring inner emotional worlds? Er, no. Here, it’s all about wrecking-ball mode. The guitars are drowned in distortion, the drums seem like they'll explode with every strike of the sticks, while Rebecca White's vocal cords spit out every line with radical relish. Wow! Unfortunately, contemporary punk sounds this dirty, uncompromising and heavy all too rarely these days. It brings back memories of Brainbombs and Rancid, only cruder, dirtier and with a rawer production. Yes, you read that right. These four Canadians play on fuel-soaked instruments and basically tear up every stage they can get their hands on. Not just in terms of sound, but also in terms of attitude. This honours a genre of music that once emerged from sheer rage at the status quo and thrived on it. Their debut album “Improve Your Image, Listen To Wait//Less” (2025) makes it clear, once and for all, in this tradition: punk isn’t dead – you may have just taken your eyes off it.
