1.800 Fes­ti­vals. Eine Studie.

The Festival Study 2025 offers, for the first time, a comprehensive overview of the diversity of Germany’s festival landscape. It highlights differences across genres, festival sizes, and regions – while also revealing surprising commonalities.

What are the most striking trends? Where do cross-genre challenges emerge – for example in areas such as sustainability, financing, or audience access? And how do classical, pop, and jazz festivals differ in terms of their target groups, programming approaches, or funding structures?

The findings encourage a closer look at funding mechanisms, ecological measures, working conditions, and questions of participation. In this way, the study provides not only data, but also valuable impulses for organizers, policymakers, funding institutions, and audiences alike.
