Billie Marten

Music / Singer-Songwriter / United Kingdom

So far, Billie Marten has successfully followed the textbook trajectory for a songwriter: At eight years old, she teaches herself to play guitar and sing, at nine she starts her own YouTube channel, where she uploads covers of pop songs to the delight of her grandparents in France. When she nets hundreds of thousands of streams with her single "Ribbon", everything starts to move very quickly. The BBC Introducing stage at the Reading Festival, a contract with Sony, and positive responses to her debut Writings of Blues and Yellows from critics as well as fans.

This year she released her sophomore record Feeding Seahorses by Hand, generating a collective sigh of relief and delight: Even in such a short time, Marten has honed her songwriting skills further, loosened her voice even more, written even deeper lyrics. It will be exciting to see how those songs work on stage in September.
