Bonaparte & Sophie Hunger

Music / Indie / Switzerland

Him, over the last 15 years known worldwide as the king of spectacular and eccentric lo-fi live shows; her, one of the most prolific singers and song writers of Switzerland – together they form Bonaparte and Sophie Hunger, a duo that has revived danceable, sepia drenched music without so much as a hint of cheesy nostalgia. To the contrary. The two Berliners-of-choice show, that the rockabilly spirit can easily be translated into the new 20s if you take the right ingredients and combine them with a hearty portion of style. Accompanied by bassist Tyler Pope (LCD Soundsystem) and the multi-instrumentalist Wouter Rentema, they recorded their first EP aptly titled “1” last year which is set to be followed by a series of further EPs. In addition to two original compositions, it also featured a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “Daft Punk are playing in my house”, which with its scratchy sound and compact dance-punk-grooves made the leap out of the past and into the present as energetically as intended. Quirky, passionate and with an endless hunger for the next party, Bonaparte and Sophie Hunger are hitting our stages this year.
