Charlotte Brandi

Music / Indie, Singer-Songwriter / Berlin, Germany

Charlotte Brandi started writing her own songs back when she was on the road with Matze Pröllochs as Me And My Drummer. After that collaboration ended, she turned her first solo ideas into sounds on an old wooden piano, entirely intuitively, completely self-taught. A lot of her earliest experiences with music showed a similar lack of inhibition. Jazz in all its forms, Popol Vuh brand Krautrock, the transcultural eclecticism of the Warsaw Village Band – as a teenager, Charlotte rummaged through her parents’ records, listening to anything offbeat and experimental. And those influences from back then are right there in her own songwriting today. Even her debut album “The Magician” from 2019 combines the authenticity of modern indie music with psychedelic motifs, artsy dream pop and an ethereal production style. Ingredients that she further developed on the next EP, “An das Angstland” (2020), into a fitting pandemic soundtrack that went unnoticed by far too many. After a two-year break from doing gigs, she’s finally coming to Hamburg armed with new material.
