Creating Woodstock

Film / Music Documentary / United States of America

Q&A with Woodstock co-creator Joel Rosenman, director Mick Richard and producer Eric Morris after the screening, moderated by Dirk Schneider from Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

The "Three Days of Peace and Music" almost never took place in August 1969: A last-minute change of location, missing permits and headliners. In the end, Woodstock became a legend. The festival of all festivals. A weekend full of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. An event not only shaping half a million of visitors but also fascinating generations after them.

Three decades of research, more than seventy hours of interviews with producers, planners and performers, paired with rare video and photo material – director Mick Richards, also among the festival guests as a teenager, made "Creating Woodstock" a comprehensive documentary on how the festival came into being. From the first idea of the happening to the moment when the last festival goers left the festival field.
