Eine Stadt wird Bunt – Hamburg Graffiti History

Arts / Exhibition / Hamburg, Germany

Immerse and sniff spray mist of the 80s and 90s? Not quite. The book "Eine Stadt wird bunt. Hamburg Graffiti History 1980–1999" (A city turns colourful) obviously stimulates with visual appeal. Using materials by photographers such as André Lützen or Bernd Euler and documents from Hamburg museums and district archives but also authentic pictures of the protagonists from the scene, the work provides an insight into the Hamburg graffiti landscape of that time and information on techniques for how to take over public city space.

The pages have not yet been printed; the book will be published in spring 2020 and will have to be crowd funded until October on startnext.com. However, the exhibition of the same name displayed in a Reeperbahn Festival container will provide a first taste of its colourful content.
