Hyangni’s debut studio album "Be My First Love" in 2014 left even most South Koreans somewhat irritated: The cheeky aesthetic and playful exploration of psychedelic sound ideas had simply been unheard of. However - a clear and calculated musical intent quickly emerged after the crazy first impressions absorbed. By the time their album “3” dropped in November 2019, the project (which started as a quartet and in the meantime has condensed into a duo) had proven to audiences how wide ranging their wealth of ideas really is. And on this album, Lee Ji Hyang and Lee Jun Gyu mash artsy alternative rock and neo-psychedelia to ultimately create a shrill mixture of styles that even western millennial hippie bands could learn a thing or two from. If you’re planning on seeing these two live, fasten your seatbelt.
