Ilgen-Nur

Music / Indie / Berlin, Germany

Presented by: Keychange

The slacker sound of Ilgen-Nur is like warm butter on toast. Spontaneous, secure in her groove and fresh, the young singer-songwriter has been one of the top names of German indie ever since she dropped her debut EP No Emotions. With the inimitable Max Rieger as her producer, she has already opened for Bloc Party and Tocotronic. Together with Drangsal she created the coolest cover to ever be recorded of the song “Daylight In Your Eyes” by the German girl band No Angels. On last year’s debut album Power Nap, Ilgen displays the same kind of stylistic surefootedness, uniting indie, pop, and post-punk nuances – and not least finding herself as a wholly unpretentious artist. She couldn’t have done so at a better time, since strong characters who don’t give a hoot about perfection or money have been few and far between in the modern music business.
