Indeed the name Kuoko itself imports another sonic world. But the singer flirting with Japanese pop aesthetics is originally from Hamburg, her given name is Jasmina Quach. Here she's working at a record store, illustrating, designing her outfits on her own and also accompanying herself on stage.

Absolutely a true one woman show, having created also her own art universe. Musically she is exploring minimal electronic sonic worlds, as heard on her first EP „Lost Woods“ (Kabul Fire Records). „Seeker, Finder, Keeper“ is such a haunting track, dangling Far Eastern harmonies and enchanting with Kuoko's fragile voice. The forecast seems well. Only recently Kuoko, among five nominees, has been awarded the prestigious Hamburg music prize Krach + Getöse. It's 1200 Euros of prize money plus a funding of establishment pros.
