L.A. Salami

Music / Indie, Singer-Songwriter / London, United Kingdom

Anyone trying to pigeonhole the music of Lookman Adekunle Salami (yes, that's his real name), will quickly realise that it’s a fruitless endeavour. The British singer-songwriter known as L.A. Salami not only switches between musical chairs, but also crawls under them, across tables and behind the curtains of the London music scene. From BBC 6 to Esquire Magazine, to Apple’s Zane Lowe, the multi-instrumentalist's expressive and equally innovative releases have already been showered with superlatives – and rightly so. What Salami celebrates on albums like "Dancing with Bad Grammar" (2016) or "The Cause of Doubt & a Reason to Have Faith" (2020) sometimes falls under art pop, sometimes under songwriter folk, postmodern blues or indie rock. And sometimes it's everything at once. But no matter how and where this man chooses to next give chase to a new style creation in the thicket of contemporary music: his sound remains distinctive, always fresh and unpredictable. A feat that he’s capable of achieving on stage like almost none other of his craft.
