Moncrieff

Music / Pop / London, United Kingdom, Ireland

On the topic of love, Chris Breheny never fails to land the right tone, the right words in poetic form. As Moncrieff, the Irish-born singer and songwriter has been tackling the big feelings for a good five years now and impressively translating them into songs with authentic, personal depth. Especially this year, with his euphoric first-love single “Warm”, combining soul pop, gospel and a rousing mood of optimism. This hit really highlights why international superstars like Elton John, Adele, or, during his time, Avicii, have appreciated Moncrieff’s highly emotional songwriting. In songs like “Symptoms” or “Talk”, he gives his soul a stage without resorting to any gratuitous showmanship. He radiates closeness, vulnerability, intimacy – a quality sadly often lacking in many artists of his ilk these days. Moncrieff uses this though as a foundation on which to establish a connection with his audience that has an immediate effect, especially live.
