Nana Adjoa

Music / Indie / Amsterdam, Netherlands

Presented by: Rolling Stone, Dutch Music Export, ARTE Concert

As the child of a Dutch mother and a Ghanaian father, as a trained jazz musician and lover of American rock classics, Nana Adjoa grew up under a multitude of different cultural influences way before a career in music was even up for debate. Consequently, the singer-songwriter from Amsterdam presents her own flavor of indie-pop with her debut album "Big Dreaming Ants" from last year, full of introspective lyrics, laying wonderful sound-concepts across soul, folk and downtempo. Her conceptions of summery, grounded songwriting are free of cliché, yet slowly and steadily dig deep, to the core of things, which she repeatedly manages to approach from a different perspective with pieces like "Love and Death" or "I Want to Change". A true artist, of whom we expect to be seeing a lot in the future.
