Nuela Charles

Music / Pop, R'n'B/Soul / Canada

Presented by: Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), Daytripper Music Publishing

Manuela Wüthrich is a phenomenon: for ten years, the Kenia-born singer-songwriter who grew up in Edmonton, Canada has been collecting awards and nominations by the most prestigious of Canada’s award shows without even really trying. She’s not much into fitting in, after all. Her debut “Aware” (2012) was awarded album of the year by the Edmonton Music Prize, she herself was crowned artist of the year several times, is constantly represented at the JUNO awards, and even internationally the singer with the buttery smooth timbre has been turning heads under the moniker Nuela Charles. With her “Blissful Madness” EP from last year, she has lifted her soulful pop design, which also works with jazz, R’n’B and hip-hop elements, to a new level and has once again this year shown that she is still more than capable of reinventing herself with singles lie “Awakening” or “Top of the World”.
