Focus Country Denmark

Hjertelig Velkommen, Denmark!

2020 is the year of cultural friendship between Germany and Denmark, which will culminate in Hamburg between 16 - 19 September 2020, where Denmark will be featured as the focus country of Reeperbahn Festival. The timing is perfect as Denmark is booming with talent!

Over the last decade Danish music has stepped to the forefront of the Global music scene in such diverse styles ranging from top charting artists like Mø and Lukas Graham to stadium rockers Volbeat. Iceage emerged from the Copenhagen punk scene and captured both the east-coast and west-coast of the US. And many more than what this short text permits could be mentioned.

Anders Wahrén (Program Director of Roskilde Festival) shares his view on the Danish music scene nowadays: “Looking at our current Danish scene I find it refreshingly easy to point out artists who have established themselves internationally. And a lot more are coming, in many different styles and genres. It is inspiring to see how these acts are refining their sound, putting in a lot of hard work on the road and signing with labels, agencies and managements across the globe like never before.”

Besides a strong line-up curated by Reeperbahn Festival, MXD - Music Export Denmark will present two powerful events:

- On Thursday, 17 September, MXD will host a full day event with music, talks, great food and drinks, which will be produced in collaboration with Roskilde Festival, who are themselves celebrating their 50th festival in 2020.

- On Saturday, 19 September, MDX will host the 12th Danish Night in a row at Indra. The night has become the go-to-place on the Saturday attracting more than 300 industry people. This year will be no different, when MXD presents "The best of Danish Night" bringing back some of their most successful acts who have played the night over the last decade.

We can't wait to entertain you with the best from Denmark!
