Call for Applications: Reeperbahn Festival International Pan-Africa 2021 (31 May-3 June)
Reeperbahn Festival International’s 2021 virtual trip around the world continues! After Beijing (21–23 April) and Nashville (10–12 May), we are pleased to announce the call for applications for the third international spin-off. The digital/hybrid Pan-Africa event, in cooperation with Music in Africa Foundation, will take place 31 May to 3 June 2021 and is aiming to connect with music industry markets from Lagos to Joburg, just like its partner event, ACCES, with its alternating locations on the continent. ACCES was last held in the autumn of 2019 in Accra, Ghana, and is next scheduled for November 2021.
In partnership with the Music In Africa Foundation and ACCES music conference and supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, we will offer valuable contacts and exciting insights into the inner workings of the African music and creative industries. The delegates can expect a four-day program of networking events, curated 1:1 matchmaking sessions with top decision-makers in the African music- and creative industries, discussion panels, keynote presentations, insightful digital visits to key African music companies, and a hybrid showcase concert with European and African artists.
European music-industry professionals are cordially invited to apply here by 30 April at the latest to participate as delegates. Small and medium-sized companies are particularly encouraged to participate, but other industry players are not excluded. The prerequisite for applying is a concrete interest in the music and creative industry in Africa as well as involvement in an activity in the areas of publishing, labels, distribution, management, marketing/promotion, bookings/live events, or a related digital/creative business field.
Due to the current situation, events will be offered primarily in digital/hybrid form on the digital Reeperbahn Festival conference platform. While keeping a very watchful eye on the development of the pandemic in Europe, an in-person element is also tentatively scheduled in Hamburg. In any case, we will ensure that accredited delegates will also be able to participate in the program exclusively online.
After Beijing, Nashville, and the Pan-Africa spin-off, the next Reeperbahn Festival International event will be New York (14–17 June).
