40 New Artists Confirmed!

The international music scene has long known that Scandinavia is the world’s leading exporter when it comes to retro-rock. Without question, one of the biggest names in the genre is Graveyard, the Swedish band around singer and guitarist Joakim Nilsson. The guys from Gothenburg have so far released four globally acclaimed albums full of classic-blues-and-psychedelic-infused hard rock – fortunately, Graveyard is back together after disbanding in 2016.

Another thrilling addition to the line-up hails from Norway, in the form of singer and songwriter Sigrid(photo), a real talent who’s currently on a real roll: her single “Don’t Kill My Vibe” was named “Hottest Record in the World” by BBC Radio 1, charted high in England and at home in Norway, and earned the attention of major media outlets, including The Guardian. A fine writer of pop songs, she was chosen by Apple Music as a face and voice for its “Up Next” campaign.

The American press regularly sings the praises of the phenomenal live shows of Tank and the Bangas, a quintet from New Orleans fronted by singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball: the group’s fireworks of soul, R&B, powerfully eloquent hip hop, and jazz promises to excite and electrify Reeperbahn festivalgoers as well.

American band Okkervil River, headed up by Will Sheff, needs little introduction – on their eleventh album, “In The Rainbow Rain”, their approach is significantly harder, more driving than it was on its contemplative predecessor, meaning the band is continuing to expand its cosmos of softer folk rock and harder alternative pop.

Cindy-Lauper-and-Japanese-J-pop-inspired bubblegum pop that comes from Nashville, the home of American country music, of all places? It exists and Poppy – who’s created a persona for herself in the finest Warhol fashion – shows just how magnificent it can be.

From Hamburg’s Jenfeld district around the world via a video: with her hit song “Bist Du Down” singer Ace Tee has established a reputation for herself that extends all the way to the USA. And her debut EP, “Tee Time”, which brings smooth R&B and urban hip-hop with positive vibes to a wider audience, shows that she’s got far more to offer than just one hit. She’ll be live with a full band – a true extravaganza!

The brilliant indie pop of the eccentric Darwin Deez, straight out of New York City’s Williamsburg neighbourhood, has ensured packed dance floors in every indie disco since the release of his hit single “Radar Detector”. At Reeperbahn Festival, Darwin Deez will perform songs from his three albums along with some new material – all guaranteed to have festivalgoers up and dancing from the first second to the last.
