There’s Wanda and there’s Bilderbuch and the next hot shit is also from Austria. Hip hop artist Crack Ignaz, the uncrowned King of Alpine Swag.
GROUPLOVE from Los Angeles does riveting indie pop with rhythms at times reminiscent of Vampire Weekend. The band’s upbeat music is made for California, their songs possessing a sunny, feel-good vibe.
Vocalist Charlotte Brandi and drummer Matze Pröllochs took the plunge, headed to Berlin. The duo Me And My Drummer have since released their second album, “Love Is a Fridge”, a collection of magnificently melancholic dream pop gems, nostalgic and occasionally psychedelic.
Sturgill Simpson’s music, by contrast, has a hint of Waylon Jennings outlaw country style to it – although Simpson places himself more in the Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard tradition. What’s certain, Simpson is a singer who’s shaking up the country scene.
