Next wave of music

The next wave of new confirmations is flooding the programme and we could hardly wait to marvel at these stunning artists with you any more.

We begin with one of this year's highlights: Feist, folk poet and one of the most brilliant songwriters of our time, will perform for the first time at the Reeperbahn Festival - twice! First at the DOORS OPEN Show, our introduction to four days of music, people and magic in Hamburg, followed by a full-length concert.

We continue with the Norwegian art-pop sensation Aurora, who not only stands out as a reliable ambassador for Gaja with her delimiting music, but is also single-handedly ringing in a new era of conscious pop music. Summoning up showers of goosebumps and saving the planet in the process? This woman sounds like a gift from the universe.

In recent years, American Authors have produced numerous worldwide hits, which have given them an equally vast and loyal following. No wonder, considering the feel-good vibes radiating in every note of songs like "Best Day Of My Life" or "I'm Born To Run".

Also appealing, but pleasantly riotous, we welcome Germany's electro-pop revolutionary Mia. back to Hamburg. The band around Mieze Katz celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2017 and gave the go-ahead for another decade of consciously unadapted euphoric music.

An optimistic mood takes hold when ALASKALASKA connect the dots in their entirely indefinable sound somewhere between indie and art pop, folk and fusion. Gems such as "Sweat" bring together that which has always longed for one another without becoming tacky. On the contrary: honesty reigns here.

The same can also be said of Rachel Chinouriri, whose multi-facetted sound was created on her mother's old laptop and took her from there to the BBC Introducing Stage. As a headliner! A real dreamer, the cheery Londoner shows what is possible in our times.

Another example is the reinvention of a band, successfully mastered by SHATTEN. Having helped punk rock achieve the prestige of times gone by with their previous band Findus, the journey continues for the boys from northern Germany. Marked by the turmoil of our time, but more determined than ever.
