On tour with Zeal & Ardor
You’re not going to find a lot of bands that blend black metal, hip hop, jazz, gospel, and soul as brilliantly as Switzerland’s Zeal & Ardor, led by frontman Manuel Gagneux. They achieved their international breakthrough with the title track from their last album, “Devil Is Fine” – and in 2017 they made a stop at Reeperbahn Festival. “Stranger Fruit”, their new album, released in June of this year, features a no less grim messenger emerging from the underworld – the band’s definitely not done with the devil. Gagneux’s stories can be sinister, referencing occult literature, demons and satanic rituals. In November, the band will be joined on tour by Finnish noise rockers Nyos.
