REEPERBAHN FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL ON-SITE AND ONLINE FROM BERLIN
In 2020 Reeperbahn Festival International is entering a new era of transcultural cooperation between artists and the music industry.
The launch is a hybrid live event from Berlin on 27–28 August – in cooperation with our two renowned partners Music Business Association (Music Biz) in Nashville and the WISE Music Conference in Beijing.
Around 50 delegates from the European music industry will be on site in Berlin to network and exchange views with each other and their colleagues from the USA and China via a newly developed digital event platform. The event includes innovative versions of familiar formats and topics – panels, singer-songwriter camp, company visits, matchmakings, ANCHOR Jury and Nominees announcement, Keychange – and concludes with a top-class live showcase of Chinese and European artists.
The kick-off will take place at noon on Thursday, 27 August, in the Kreuzberg Festival Hall, followed by a company visit to the Chinese indie label Maybe Mars, which has been supporting ground-breaking artists in China since 2007.
Shortly afterwards, the announcement of the ANCHOR – International Music Award Jury and nominees will be streamed live via Facebook and YouTube. This will be followed by two hours of matchmaking between the US and European delegates, as well as the panel on ‘Building the Bridge – Creative Collaboration between the US and Europe’. Finally, in the evening, the results of the transcontinental singer-songwriter camp, which took place on 17–19 August, will be presented.
Friday (28 August) will begin with a panel on the ‘Challenges and Opportunities in the Live Music Industry for China and Europe’. Further matchmaking sessions and company visits from Shanghai, a keynote presentation on the current music market in the country, as well as company visits from Nashville will again invite you to establish and expand transcontinental networks. The evening will be rounded off with six live acts from China and Europe, which can be watched by anyone interested on Reeperbahn Festival’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
Reeperbahn Festival International is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award by The Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. Keychange is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
