Born from a cry of protest and fuelled by a desire for change, Chloe Slater's songs are both politically charged and musically well-crafted. Since her debut single ‘Sinking Feeling!’ (2023) and the subsequent assessment of the current influencer culture ‘24 Hours’, the young singer-songwriter from Manchester has entered a counter-movement that won't be satisfied with the decline of our social cohesion and its technological embellishment. Her first EP ‘You Can't Put A Price On Fun’ (2024) not only accentuated the culturally critical vigour of her lyrics, but also the stylistic boldness that Slater puts into her music: she effortlessly harmonises indie rock and alt-pop, post-punk revival and bedroom production, dreamy atmospheres and club-ready bangers. The fact that this year's EP ‘Love Me Please’ has inspired young people in the UK with its social and political themes while simultaneously racking up millions of streams on the important platforms shows that this is an artist who couldn't be arriving on the scene of contemporary indie music at a better time.
