COLLIGNON
Vibes of free-spirited jam sessions purr through the air, a splash of Mediterranean jazz and the pulsation of sweat-inducing Afro-beats drift through your head as you hurtle along the promenade on the saddle – the sound of COLLIGNON is always summer, and that’s a good thing. The Portuguese instrumental trio centred around founder Jori Collignon blend psychedelic guitars with shimmering Farfisa grooves and breakneck percussion to create a mix of styles full of dynamism and energy. The project’s sound was mostly formulated on their debut, ‘Lagoinha’ (2022), largely fuelled by the brilliant drums of Gino Bombrini (Skip & Die) and the extensive string repertoire of Southeast Asia expert and guitarist Yves Lennertz (Yin Yin). With this year’s follow-up, ‘Bicicleta’ (2025), however, the trio succeed in making the ultimate declaration of love to the best means of transport in the world: the bicycle. Where cycling becomes a journey into dreamy landscapes, where independence and freedom are two sides of the same handlebar, where the world opens up on a small and large scale, COLLIGNON provide the soundtrack for trips of all kinds. Live, they are a pulsating spectacle that cannot be described and can only be experienced.
