DABDA
Anyone who has ever had to endure a traumatic experience or lost a loved one is familiar with the five stages of grief. DABDA derived their band name from this concept and pack existential themes into a summery soundscape that is complexly arranged without going crazy. The four passionate musicians from the metropolis of Seoul combine a hopeful version of bittersweet dream pop with the intricate rhythms of modern math rock bands and the playful instrumentation of a young indie combo. It’s daring and successful because the result is a sound that is truly unique in this form, which they brought to full bloom on their debut, ‘But, All The Shining Things Are’ (2020), and have since expanded with neo-psychedelic features on the ‘Yonder’ EP (2023). It’s hardly surprising that DABDA are considered one of the most innovative bands in South Korea – and not only there, but now also here in Europe.
