Delfonic DJ set

Markus Lindner has no time to lose. As a reformer of the contemporary nu-disco sound, he has been celebrating wild crossovers that lie somewhere between Afro grooves, French house, jazz, and funk for a few years now with a frequency that reveals both great ambition and passion for the cause. His ‘Illegal Jazz’ series has become a safe bet for organic tunes with maximum danceability, and not just in the club cosmos of Berlin. Under the alias Delfonic – not coincidentally reminiscent of the soul legends of the seventies – Lindner sends crowds around the world into ecstasy both in small venues and on large festival stages. Of course, anyone who has been running Oye Records – one of the best-stocked record shops in the capital – for years and who is celebrated by legends such as Gilles Peterson and Honey Dijon must be a kind of polymath of contemporary sounds and feel at home in various genres. Where others chase after well-paved hypes, Delfonic boldly turns off into the musical undergrowth and comes back with a colourful bouquet of fresh ideas. Even after all these years, there is no doubt: There are few DJs in Germany who can conjure up sets of such freshness.
