Sometimes music conjures up memories that don't seem quite your own. The images appear too distant, the sounds too faint. With her quartet Eosine, Elena Lacroix has discovered a way to capture and preserve these nostalgic flashes in sound. Inspired by the luminous figures of early shoegaze, My Bloody Valentine and Ride, EPs such as ‘Coralline’ (2023) and last year's ‘Liminal’ continue a rich tradition of ethereal sounds that encapsulated the spirit of an entire generation three decades ago. Dream pop with progressive song structures and playful distortions intertwined with ghostly vocals define this sound signature, while yesterday and today fall easily into each other's arms. Because, despite all the longing and the mists of heady memories, this music points with great confidence to the sensual pleasures of the here and now – not least through itself. Between ecstasy and disillusionment, the band has created a deeply contemporary sound that fans of Whispering Sons, Lush and Slowdive will enjoy for years to come.
