Ez Kamil
A walking testament to the irrepressible creative force of DIY culture, a talented bedroom producer, a budding pop poet with tons of potential: the early accolades for Ez Kamil have different flavours, but all of them get to the artistic heart of the up-and-coming talent. From his attic room, he sends cleverly produced tracks between pop and rap, downtempo and R&B out into the world like carrier pigeons that take on a life of their own. There are singles like “Hitze” or “Aschenbecher” (2023), where he delivers poetry like diary entries. Even on his debut EP “Ich wünscht ich wär gern du” (2023), it's clear that as a composer, lyricist and producer, he takes the idea of autonomy very seriously - as does his artistic vision. Born in the zeitgeist of a bleak era of self-deception, songs like the brilliantly produced ‘Schwarze Pfützen’ (2024) peel out of the speakers with an emotional intensity that derives its power from deliberate understatement. His ability to imbue all moods with atmosphere is evident this year with his tracks “Süden” and “Sprung ins kalte Wasser” (2025), which feature exquisite beats tailored to the voices of Matt Mendo, Aqua and Marnele. No doubt about it: Ez Kamil is a producer legend in the making.
