When he met a chap named Makko at the skate park in his youth, Okfella had no idea just how life-changing that encounter would be. A few years later, the pair founded the rap collective Boloboys and brought about a lasting transformation in German rap with their unconventional production methods, a wide range of diverse influences, and lyrics that capture the spirit of the times. Tracks such as “Kalter Rauch” (2020) and “Gehweg” (2023) have since racked up millions of streams, turning heartbroken skate rap into a blueprint for countless imitators. However, they simply don’t stand a chance against Okfella’s eclectic approach. The Berlin-based artist integrates alternative rock just as effortlessly as he does techno. On albums such as “Die Welt gehört DIR!” (2022) and “Mann über Bo(a)rd” (2024), he blends trap beats with a neo-psychedelic twist and programmes drums and basslines that are uniquely his own. As if he weren’t busy enough already, the rapper and producer is also making a name for himself – almost in passing – as a graphic designer and video producer, lending his own releases – as well as those of his crew – his singular urban aesthetic. He’s a true jack-of-all-trades and track-tinkerer of exceptional calibre who will finally be taking to the stage here this year.
