It is often the unexpected and unintended detours in life that ultimately shape us into who we want to be. Gia Margaret experienced this firsthand when an infection of her vocal cords prevented her from singing. Forced by fate to seek other avenues of artistic expression, she found them in her repertoire of analog synthesizers and samplers. A unique form of delicate ambient music emerges, blending field recordings and New Age, post-minimalism and progressive electronica, as well as poignant spoken-word passages. In contrast to her debut album “There’s Always Glimmer” (2018), her second work “Mia Gargaret” (2020) (the spoonerism is intentional) accordingly nestles much more quietly and peacefully – yet also more experimentally and existentially – into the ears of her audience. Even as her battered voice returns, the experience of near-silence leaves deep creative traces. Now she comes to us for the first time with her new album “Singing” (2026), showcasing her newly regained vocal range in all its glory.
