GINA ÉTÉ
There seems to be nothing that Gina Été is unable to achieve in terms of her musical vision. As a trained violist, she is familiar with the complex works of legendary composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, arranges string sections for greats such as Sophie Hunger and Panda Lux, but also allows a variety of influences to flow into her own productions. Her debut album, ‘Erased By Thought’ (2021), is a thematically and musically diverse work in which the Zurich native skilfully combines unusual pop music with unconventional instrumentation. Sometimes venturing into the realms of trip hop and downtempo, then again inspired by art pop and jazz, but also happy to engage in immersive experiments that defy categorisation: Gina Été elevates the disregard of rigid genre conventions to her own art form and just last year thrilled fans and critics alike with her album ‘F***you:you’ (2024). Comparisons with Björk and FKA Twigs are flattering but unnecessary. Indeed, this musician has carved out her own niche in the granite of postmodern sound art and is relishing in expanding it with targeted stylistic explosions on her new album, ‘Prosopagnosia’ (2025).
