The Guilt
Anitchka and Lizzy aren’t averse to compromising out of sheer laziness, it’s more a matter of a deep conviction. Because the world is the way it is right now, and patriarchy shows no signs of abating, the duo from Malmö, Sweden, offer popular anger management courses in the form of perspiration-inducing concerts. The energy that the pair unleash on audiences as The Guilt has to be experienced to be believed. It's as if the Sisters Of Mercy came across the newly formed Bikini Kill at a 2Unlimited gig in the early nineties. Swearing eternal allegiance to the Riot Grrrl movement, The Guilt nevertheless cultivate a sound that is all their own, combining physically pulsating percussion with fuzzing guitars and raw, pissed-off vocals. Maximum impact, maximum catharsis guaranteed. No surprise, then, that albums of the calibre of ‘The Guilt’ (2017) and ‘New Knives’ (2020) have given Sweden's ultra-vibrant synth-punk scene a good shave.
