A laid-back vibe, a charismatic voice, and songwriting with a certain knack for melody: Although Hannes Jepsen hasn’t even released a handful of songs yet, his songs can easily be used for the next barbecue party at the lake. The singer–songwriter with the sunglasses is currently making his way towards becoming the German Jack Johnson – after all, his music is characterised by the same deeply relaxed yet reflective attitude with which the Hawaiian celebrated international success in the early 2000s. Hænsen is not quite there yet, but the potential is obvious. With singles such as ‘Grüne Kippe’ and the recently released declaration of love to the mothers of this world ‘SMS an Mama’, the newcomer is positioning himself as a German-language troubadour for chilling out and reflecting in a world that seems to be increasingly losing sight of both. Reason enough for him to strike a relaxed note with us in September and take to the stage for an evening full of summer soundtracks.
